Mental Health Continuum at P.S. 140X

Hello P.S. 140 Community!

My name is Aleena Khan, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new Mental Health Continuum Clinician assigned to your school. As part of my role, I provide on-site therapy for students after a simple intake process.

So, what is the Mental Health Continuum Program? It’s an innovative, evidence-based model designed to support students with significant, unmet mental health needs. By integrating a range of direct services and strengthening partnerships between schools and hospital-based mental health clinics, we’re making mental health care more accessible than ever.

This means students can receive the support they need right at school—no need for outside clinic visits! By bringing mental health services directly into the school environment, we’re ensuring that every student has the resources they need to thrive.

Children and teenagers come to our clinic to treat the following set of issues that interfere with their school, home life, social activities and relationships:

  • Frequent sadness, crying                       Frequent upsetting thoughts
  • Frequent worrying, anxiety                   Poor sleep
  • Constant angry thoughts                          Poor appetite, major weight change
  • Aggressive behaviors at home/school       Confused thinking
  • Attentional problems/poor focus               Challenging communication with others
  • Difficulty dealing with loss or trauma     Challenging relationships with others
  • School problems due to poor mood        Difficulties adjusting to new things or places

Do any of these challenges remind you of your child? Fill out a referral form to see if they would benefit from mental health services today!

To receive a referral form for your child, please reach out to me (through email, call, or text), Ms. Rey, Ms. Blake, or Ms. Choudhury.

If you have any questions or would like more information about the program, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to connect and support in any way I can!

Looking forward to working with you all!
